Terms of use

The agreement between you and Kazi Kings when you use this website and the portals that go with it.

By using Kazi Kings, the landlord portal or the tenant portal, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What Kazi Kings is

Kazi Kings is software for managing rental property. Landlords and the people who manage property for them use it to keep their properties, tenants, rent, deposits, water bills and receipts in one place. Tenants use it to see their own records.

We are not a landlord or an estate agent, and we are not a party to any tenancy. The agreement about a property is between the landlord and the tenant.

Accounts

  • Landlord accounts are created by us. Send a request from the landlord sign-up page; once it is approved your account opens on the Free plan, and you can upgrade from the portal.
  • Tenant accounts are created by your landlord, not by you. If you rent from a landlord who uses Kazi Kings, ask them for your login.

Keep your password to yourself. A login is for one person: landlords who need several people working in the same account should add them as team members, each with their own login. You are responsible for what happens under your login, so tell us at info@kazikings.com if you think someone else has it.

Give us accurate details, and keep them up to date. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used to defraud or mislead somebody.

Your records

Landlords enter and look after their own records: properties, rooms, tenants, payments and receipts. They are responsible for those records being accurate, and for having a lawful reason to keep the personal details of their tenants and team.

Tenants see only their own records. If something in your tenant portal is wrong, ask your landlord to correct it.

Fees for landlords

  • Plans, what each one includes, and its limits are on the pricing page.
  • Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and paid through our payment providers, Pesapal and Zengapay.
  • If a payment fails or a plan lapses, the account keeps its data but stops being able to add properties or tenants until it is paid up again.
  • We may change what a plan includes or what it costs. Existing accounts get notice by email before a change takes effect for them.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • record a property or tenancy you have no right to manage;
  • enter anything false, discriminatory, obscene, or unlawful;
  • copy content from the site in bulk, or use automated tools to scrape account data;
  • try to reach an account or record that is not yours, or to test or break our security;
  • impersonate someone else, or misrepresent your connection to a property.

Content and ownership

The Kazi Kings name, the site, and the software behind it belong to us. The records in an account belong to the landlord who entered them.

By putting records into Kazi Kings you allow us to store them and show them to the people who need to see them to run the service, such as a tenant seeing their own payments. You keep ownership of them.

Availability

We aim to keep Kazi Kings running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of mistakes. We may take it down for maintenance, and we may change or withdraw a feature.

Liability

Kazi Kings is provided as it is. We are not responsible for what a landlord or tenant does or fails to do, for the state of a property, or for a dispute about a tenancy.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses - for example lost rent, lost business, or a missed opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Suspending or closing an account

You can ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close one that breaks these terms. Where an account is closed, records we have to keep for tax and accounting purposes are kept for as long as those rules require.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page changes with them, and account holders get notice by email of changes that materially affect them. Continuing to use Kazi Kings after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda, and disputes are for the Ugandan courts.
